Getting around London

When traveling to London its one of the most amazing things to do from visiting the tower of London, Big Ben at Westminister, London bridge, Harry Potter, or my personal Favorite visiting the spots where they filmed Doctor Who and taking a picture with the TARDIS.
If your coming in from Stansted Airport to London it will take you little over 1 hour to get to London. when you leave the airport you'll be able to go to the ticket booth and be able to purchase your tickets to take the train or the bus, if you take the Standsted express it will be £19.00 for one way and £32.00 for two way at the standard rate. My personal opinion is to take the train then to take the bus, and you'll want to get off the London Liverpool Street station, from there you can switch to any other train or take a cab. If your going from London City Airport or Heathrow airport your pretty much already in London and its a short ride to get to the City center.
Once your in London you'll be able to get on the Underground at the automated ticket machines and get an all day card for £12.10 for Zone 1 Only, Zone 1 is only exclusive to just the inner city of London if your going to travel to the outskirts of London then your going to find out what Zone your going to go for that day. The London tube is one of the best ways to get around London for a low cost, its always on time, clean, and easy to navigate. There's a mini map on the walls that show's where that train is going to hit next and arrows which side you need to be on.
If your trying to get around and also see all the sights, one of the best tours is to take The Original Tour London Sightseeing double decker bus. These Double Decker bus is great because you can get on or off the bus at any stop and stay in that location for as long as you want and get on any tour bus and move on to the next stop. One of the good things too is just to be able to get a break from walking around and just enjoy the view as you get a ride from one part of London to the next, remember you need to have your ticket on you at all times because that's what they use as proof that you have purchase your ticket and if you got it for one day its good for 24 hours not just that day.
After walking and sighting your probably already tired from seeing parts of London and you just want to sit down and have some food, Well your in luck London has so many amazing pubs to go to that you can have a relaxing meal and have a pint or a soft drink which ever is your preference. Any time you walk in to a pub you always feel welcome and it has a great atmosphere not like American bars where there's no windows and feels dark, pubs have a more mature friendly establishment where you can feel comfortable and enjoy the view outside and be able to have a normal conversation with your companion.
If you ever wanted to go see a play but you don't know which one you want to go see or you didn't buy your ticket before hand, your in luck, just between Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square you'll be able to see many venders for souvenirs watch a movie, go to a pub or eat food and also purchasing tickets for the theater at a reasonable price and sometimes less then online purchase. Between this area it is a popular section to be at, it is filled with people and filled with many different shops. If that's the thing you like this is the area to go too.
Well hopefully this little guide to getting around London will help and you'll have more of the confidence to getting to your destination and be able to enjoy your time. If you have any suggestion or ideas for the next post or if you like this like it or comment bellow

Getting around Europe

You always wanted to take a trip out to Europe but you feel like it would be to expensive and too difficult to be carrying around your luggage or even how to get around. Well I'm telling you now its not that hard, traveling around Europe is probably one of the easiest and best experience you'll ever have.
You might be intimidated about going to a foreign country not knowing the language or heck your mobile phone working. I tell you what, don't worry about it because you would have been prepared before you left your home.

First of all there's always free WiFi out there, weather it be at the pub or at your hotel room, second before you leave screen shot the map directions and train route that your going to take, and third check the airport website of where your going to go and find out if they have a train or bus that takes you to the city or close enough to your hotel/hostel.
One of the best things to do while your traveling around Europe is to bring a backpack instead of a suitcase, makes things a lot easier when going through the airport and you can be in and out of the airport in no time and off exploring. If your staying in a hostel make sure to bring a key lock to secure your items in the lockers or trunk that they provide. You don't want to be carrying your bag all the time while your out there and you want to make sure you don't look so much like a tourist. Just bring the essentials, a small map, your camera, wallet/purse, and your mobile phone. These are just the bear basics that you'll need when your getting around town and visiting the sights the less things you have the easier it is to move around and not get bogged down in weight.
Now your ready to go out enjoy your time in Europe because you prepared for the awesome adventure out ahead of you.

Top 5 Weirdest Festivals in Europe

If your in Europe and wondering where you want to go for your next trip, well here are some of weirdest festivals you can go too.

CHEESE-ROLLING FESTIVAL

The first is The Cheese- Rolling Festival at Coopers Hill in Brockworth, It has been a tradition since the early 1800's and has been held at Cooper Hill just South East of Gloucester, England. During this tradition an 8 pound Cheese wheel is placed on top of the hill and dropped which falls 295 feet and can reach up to 70 mph. It happens on the last Monday of in May and hundreds of people come to see the rolling cheese and the people running after. Every year multiple competitors are injured from sprains, strains, and even broken bones. If your not participating and just a spectator, there's always the traditional beer and local village or Brockworth to go and visit.

TOMATINA FESTIVAL

Have you ever wonder how big of a food fight you can have well why not travel to Bunol, Spain and join in The Tomatina Festival also known as the Tomato Festival, its held on the last Wednesday of August each year and truck loads filled the streets with tomatoes. The history of this festival is not truly known but one source states that it was started back in 1944 the theory is that "...a food fight among friends, a juvenile class war between bare-footed Trotskyist macarras and upper class pijos from Madrid on summer vacation, a volley of tomatoes from bystanders at a carnival parade, the rubbishing of a bad musician, a democratic protest against the city council and (our favourite) the ensuing aftermath of an accidental truck spillage." So its pretty much just a reason to just throw some tomatoes at each other and just have a good time with thousands of people.

FESTA DEL CORNUTO

If you've ever been cheated or lied to then the Festa Del Cornuto in Italy also known as the festival of horns us the place to go. It had been dated back as the Roman empire, when heroic soldiers returning from battle were given horns as a prize, but may have come back to find defeat in their own beds. The gesture of the horned hand is meant to convey that a person is being cheated on by his other half This event happens usually around November.

WIFE CARRYING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Have you ever wanted your wife's weight in beer, well The Wife Carrying World Championships in Finland is your place to go where you carry wife in a race to win this amazing prize, where one of the rules is that all participants must enjoy themselves. Now this is a race worth training for, this festival was invented in the late 1800 by non other then thieves, who have been accused of stealing food and women from villages and carrying the women on there backs. Later on the thieves started training by carrying heavy big, heavy sacks on their back to get stronger and faster which later on became a sport hence the Wife Carrying World Championship.

BATTAGLIA DELLE ARANCE

Another food throwing even is the Battaglia delle arance also knowns as the Orange Battle in Ivrea, Italy. This Festival was inspired  by a miller's daughter named Violetta back in the 1200 A.D. She was supposed to marry but refused to do so and was beheaded which caused a revolution and the destruction of the castle. Since then it has been reenacted and instead of throwing spears and bows oranges where thrown instead. The battle is without doubt the most spectacular part of the carnival highlighting the fight for freedom, the symbol of the Ivrea festival. Along with all the other historical events that are part of carnival, the orange battle constitutes an incredible cultural patrimony, which makes Ivrea one of the leading carnivals on both the national and international scene. Orange-throwing is also the time with the highest collective participation. Everybody can take part by enrolling in one of the nine teams on foot or by manning the carts.

If flights are too expensive why not go during the off season, I always found that during the off season flights and hotels are hundreds of dollars off since there's less tourist at your travel destination. If your the kind of person that hates being around in a crowded room then the off season is perfect. While everyone is at work or at school you could go out take your time sightseeing and actually enjoy your time at any of the popular destinations with ease.

What happens if your not to sure if you want to fly anywhere, You can always take a road trip with your closes friends, split the cost between all of
you and you can always make stops at any weird or interesting locations that you would have never seen while flying.
The best thing to do is make a plan research your destination, look at there tourist information websites which has a lot of different content. While your doing your research on these locations people over look the most simplest thing and that is Transportation. Transportation has a big factor on your budget when traveling, do they have trains or buses from the airport to your hotel, how are you doing to get around? these are things that most travelers forget to account on there budget or even think about, unless you bring your vehicle then your covered but you still need to know if your going to leave your vehicle at the hotel how are you going to get around.

Now that you know where you want to go, lets figure out how we are going to get there. For most travelers flying is the best way to go, but when would be a good time to go? Think about when everyone wants to travel its usually during the summer, spring break, and of course your holidays. Best tools to use when looking for cheap flights is to check out skyscanner.com they have a great tool that will show you how much a flight is during the month you want to travel too.

FPV flying

In my last post we talked about RC drone building, but what about the other side of FPV where you can fly like your in the cockpit. Well today we are going to talk about making your own FPV setup and the things you need to make your own.

In this build you can add it to your multi-rotor and view it in a 7in monitor.

Shopping Cart:

Total will be $96.61

With this setup its almost plug and play with a little bit of soldering of course, the transmitter and receiever has a rang of about 2km (1.3 miles) and that my friend is a lot of ground to cover.

But what if you looking for something a little more smaller for your camera, well you can go over to flitetest.com where they have amazing content on RC planes and multi-rotors and they just came out with this amazing little camera the Hyperion MINI 600 which has a range of 50~100m range approximately.

Your still going to need to a receiver and monitor to be able to see where your flying but with this little guy you can mount it to almost anything. Here's a video of the Flite Test team flying around and showing you how simple it is to place on a small multi-rotor or plane

Hoped you liked this week content, like always follow me or add comments below on projects you want to tackle

RC Drone Building

So right now building quadcopters/drones are a big thing. It can be used to race other people, film your next big movie or even just to fly around for fun.

Well good thing you stumble here because today we are going to get all the parts you need to make your own.
I found all my parts that I needed on Amazon.com. Its so great you can find anything there and find the best price you need. So lets start

Shopping Cart:
I do recommend you get the KK2.15 multi-rotor flight controller, Its easy to use and you don't need a computer to make any adjustments. Its an all in one system and can get you out and flying sooner.

With all the links above your total cost will come out to be $232.89, a small price to pay to get you started and building your own multi-rotor.
Remember you don't need to buy exactly what I have but these are recommendations that will help you to start some where.

Hope you enjoyed this post and if you liked please comment bellow and follow me. If you have any other recommendations on what to start or if you liked another post on RC Models let me know

Why I started it

Hello,

Welcome to Galvan Get Started, I'm Galvan and I started to blog because I see so many websites of things that I want to try or I don't know i'll be any good at it. Then one day I decided to start a project didn't matter what it was, at that point I didn't care if it came out ugly or nice I just needed to start something and see if maybe this is my thing. I scoured the internet and I was afraid to tell people hey what can I do for this or that, then they started telling "Well your going to need to buy a this and that..." Then I started to see $$$ signs, Maybe this isn't for me but I kept searching maybe there are different ways to do what you want a lower cost. Sure your going to need to buy some tools and others you might not depends if you don't have them, but if its something you really enjoyed when you finished your project then its an investment that will pay off.

I wanted to share with all of you that you can do it, you just need to Get Started with it and discover a little about your self If this is what you liked.
